Remembrance Sunday 2007

Remembrance Day services were held yesterday throughout the UK to honour and remember those who have served and lost their lives in war. Services were also held in locations, such as Afghanistan, where UK service personnel are currently fighting.

Some veterans travelled to attend services at the sites of past wars, such as the Falkland Islands.  One of the UK’s few remaining First World War veterans, 111-year-old Henry Allingham, attended a service in St Omer, northern France.

The Armed Forces Memorial in Staffordshire, unveiled last month, also saw its first Remembrance Day service.
