War memorial vandalised after attempted theft

Another attempted theft of bronze plaques took place around the same time I was reporting on a man charged with the theft of a memorial plaque from a church in Middlesbrough.

In this new case, £6,000 worth of damage was caused as thieves removed two bronze plaques from the memorial in Carr Bank Park, Mansfield.  They were disturbed and fled, leaving the plaques behind.
